Napptrually Speaking Book Review - "The Knotty Truth" & Giveaway

Hey Ladies,

I just finished reading “The Knotty Truth” written by M. Michele George. I loved it!! It is a very insightful tool for those who are transitioning, thinking of going natural and those who are natural but still trying to find their way. I really enjoyed the 1st chapter Michele George talked about the history, the pain, the freedom of natural hair and of course her hair beginnings. There are so many tips, ideas, recipes, and links that will lead you to a wealth of knowledge and products for Natural hair.

Overall the book is a great read and really puts together all of the information you need for transitioning from relaxed to natural hair. Not only is it informative it’s very encouraging to know that people went through the same challenges as so many who are transitioning. It’s also a warning to those who are thinking about transitioning the challenges they may face. So, Ladies as promised I’m giving away a copy of this book to a person who is transitioning to natural! All you have to do is submit in a paragraph why you chose to go natural and 3 things that you are struggling with in your natural hair transition.

Send all of your entries to NappturallyMe@gmail.com The Giveaway will end on Friday 08/14/2009 at 11:59pm I will announce a winner on Monday August 17, 2009

The Knotty Truth part 2

Hey Ladies,

As promised today I went a presentation about Natural hair at The Raisin Rack Natural Grocery Store here in Columbus, OH. I had the pleasure of hearing great information about reasons to go natural and stay natural! Like I mentioned in the first post "The Knotty Truth" is a book written by Michelle George.

www.TheKnottyTruth.net

Michelle talked to a room of about 25-30 women about the truths, stigmas, and scientific side of using chemicals in our hair. I learned that after African American women die and the autopsy is performed; there is a layer of grey matter aka yucky stuff nestled between the skull and scalp caused by the use of perms. I know you're asking well what is this grey yucky stuff underneath our scalps!! Well, according to Michelle it's never been researched what the grey stuff is because there is lack of interest and money in researching the affects of relaxers and other chemicals on African Americans use in their hair.

I've started the book and I've read 3 chapters in an hour!! It's hard to put this book down!! I will be giving a full review of the book in another post and also giving a copy away to a lucky reader. So please stay tuned for more about this already wonderful book I'm reading!!

The Knotty Truth

Hey Ladies,

I found a lady by the name of Michelle George she's the author of a book called "The Knotty Truth". Michelle George is a resident of Columbus, Oh and a Natural hair care advocate. Her book "The Knotty Truth" is for people who are transitioning to a natural state. From her website the description of the book says it "explores the mental and physical journey of transitioning back to your nappy roots. How to do it successfully with the right products, the right styles and the right tools!"

Even though I'm not transitioning I will be purchasing the book this weekend and blogging about it afterwards. If you are in the metropolitan area of Columbus, OH Michelle George will be at 'The Raisin Rack" Natural Grocery Store 2545 Schrock Road Westerville, Ohio 43081 on Saturday August 8, 2009 at 11am. They have limited seating folks!! So RSVP by calling 614-882-5886

Be sure to check out her website at: http://www.theknottytruth.net/home.html
